Chicago Fed Midwest Index Drops 3.6% to 92.2 Level

The Chicago Fed Midwest Manufacturing Index slipped 3.6% in December to a seasonally adjusted level of 92.2 after the November report showed a revised 2.3% decrease to 95.7, originally reported as a 1.6% drop to 96.4, the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago reported yesterday.

Nationally, the Federal Reserve Board’s industrial production index for manufacturing fell 2.3% in December. Overall manufacturing output in the region dropped 14.8% from a year earlier, compared to a 10.0% decline in output nationally in that period.
