The Chicago Fed National Activity Index for December decreased further, sliding to negative 0.91 from a downwardly revised negative 0.29 reading in November, originally reported as negative 0.27.

Meanwhile, the three-month moving average decreased to negative 0.67 in December, after November’s number was upwardly revised to negative 0.50 from negative 0.53, the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago reported yesterday.

In December 2006, the index was positive 0.65, while the CFNAI-MA3 was negative 0.13.
