Chicago Fed Activity Index Widens to -3.26

The Chicago Fed National Activity Index for December widened to negative 3.26 from a revised negative 2.78 reading in November, originally reported as negative 2.47.

Meanwhile, the three-month moving average, or CFNAI-MA3, improved to negative 2.40 in December from November’s revised negative 2.56 reading, initially reported as negative 2.49, the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago reported yesterday.

In December 2007, the index was negative 0.96, while the CFNAI-MA3 was negative 0.71 in that month.
