“The demand for new and improved affordable housing is almost unlimited, and I am excited to be part of a team that carries a strong reputation and such deep experience in this area of practice,” he said in a release.

Before joining Broad and Cassel, Cunningham was a partner with Jones Walker LLP in Baton Rouge, La.

While there, he served as co-bond counsel on Louisiana Housing Corp.’s single family program and closed several low income housing tax credit bond transactions totaling $100 million as bond counsel. In Louisiana, he represented several government entities as bond counsel, including the Louisiana Community Development Authority.

Cunningham also worked as trustee counsel for various banks and corporate trust departments, including The Bank of New York Mellon, Regions Bank and Whitney Bank, and acted as underwriters’ counsel for several major national and regional investment banks.

At Broad and Cassel, he will work with a team that has represented clients in 35 states, closing transactions involving more than $5 billion in tax-credit syndications, tax-exempt bond financings, U.S. Housing and Urban Development programs, and other programs.

Cunningham received a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and his law degree from LSU’s Paul M. Hebert Law Center. He is licensed to practice law in Louisiana and Florida.

Professional memberships include the National Association of Bond Lawyers, the Louisiana State Bar Association, and The Florida Bar.

Broad and Cassel said it established an office in Orlando in 1975, which has become the largest office of 10 located in Florida. The firm was founded in 1946, and has more than 170 lawyers.
