ADP: Private sector jobs up 135,000 in September

Private-sector employment increased by 135,000 in September, on a seasonally adjusted basis, ADP estimated Wednesday.

In August, ADP says 228,000 jobs were added, compared to the earlier estimate of 237,000 jobs added.

Economists surveyed by IFR Markets projected a 135,000 job gain for August.

“Hurricanes Harvey and Irma hurt the job market in September,” said Mark Zandi, chief economist of Moody’s Analytics. “Looking through the storms the job market remains sturdy and strong.”
