IRS to Hold Webinar on QSCBs on June 18

WASHINGTON - The Internal Revenue Service's tax exempt bond office will hold a webinar on qualified school construction bonds next month.

The free event will take place on June 18 at 2p.m., Eastern Daylight Time, the IRS said Thursday. People can register for the webinar at http://www.visualwebcaster.com/IRS/102142/reg.asp?id=102142.

QSCBs are tax-credit bonds whose proceeds are used to finance the construction, rehabilitation or repair of public school facilities, as well as the acquisition of land on which these facilities will be built.

The webinar will cover the origins, purposes and characteristics of QSCBs, as well as the governing rules and requirements that pertain to them. It will also cover information reporting requirements and post-issuance compliance relating to the bonds, in addition to the resources available to issuers, the IRS said.

TEB tax-law specialists Antoine Zemor and Steve Haycock will speak at the webinar.

Earlier this year, the IRS held a webinar in which TEB director Rebecca Harrigal provided updates on the office's work.
