WASHINGTON — The Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board announced on Wednesday that it will be offering a free six-week video series to educate municipal securities investors about fundamental disclosure documents.

The "Diving into the Documents" series will be sent via email to subscribers of the MSRB's investor education email list, which anyone can join by visiting the board's website, www.msrb.org. The series will also be posted there in its entirety.

The first three installments scheduled for release on Oct. 31, Nov. 7, and Nov. 14, will focus on the importance of official statements as well as how to find them and what they contain. The last three videos will focus on continuing disclosure, and are scheduled to run Nov. 21, Dec. 5, and Dec. 12.

"As part of our mission to protect investors, the MSRB develops engaging, multimedia educational resources about the complex municipal securities market," said MSRB executive director Lynnette Kelly. "This video series brings to life the important information contained in a bond's official statement and financial disclosure documents."

Investor education has remained a focus for the MSRB despite the board's intense focus on developing municipal advisor regulations and educating both MAs and issuers on how those new rules will affect them. The board is holding an MA compliance outreach event in Chicago Nov. 3.
