BRADENTON, Fla. - Public finance attorney Randy Hanna returned to practice at Bryant Miller Olive PA in January after serving as chancellor of the Florida College System.

Hanna, who is based in the firm's Tallahassee office, will concentrate on state and local governmental relations, higher education, public finance, and public-private partnerships.

In addition to practicing public finance law, Hanna will teach at the university level and consult with higher education institutions and organizations, Bryant Miller managing shareholder Grace Dunlap said Monday.

"Randy grew Bryant Miller Olive from a small firm to one that is recognized throughout the Southeast," Dunlap said. "It is a joy to ring in the New Year by welcoming Randy back with his many years of history here.

"His expertise will help us grow our public finance practice, our legislative and governmental affairs practice, and our national practice in higher education and transportation," she said.

After 30 years at Bryant Miller, Hanna left the firm in 2011 to head Florida's 28 colleges, which serve more than 800,000 students with two- and four-year degrees.

"Leading the Florida College System has been a great professional opportunity for public service," Hanna said. "Now is the time to explore other opportunities and Bryant Miller Olive has the best platform for me to practice law and achieve my new goals, as well as allowing me to continue my work in the higher education sector."

Bryant Miller has offices in Tallahassee, Jacksonville, Tampa, Orlando, Miami, Atlanta, and Washington D.C.

The firm was ranked third as bond counsel in the Southeast during the first half of last year with $1.1 billion in deals, according to Thomson Reuters.
