Puerto Rico's economy gained about 2,700 jobs in July from June, according to statistics the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Friday.
The July employment total was a 0.27% improvement from June and a 1% gain from July 2014.
The island's unemployment rate was 11.9%, down 0.7 percentage points from June and 1.8 percentage points from July 2014.
These figures are from the bureau's household survey of employment. The bureau also releases a survey of employers. Unlike the household survey, the employer survey excludes agriculture and self-employment.
The employer survey showed that total employment was up 0.03% since June but private sector employment was down 0.5% in the same period.
