PNC Hires Two Public Finance Bankers for Ohio Offices

CHICAGO — PNC Capital Markets has hired a pair of new public finance bankers for its Ohio offices, continuing a build-up of its national muni staff.

Ryan Kozak joins the bank as a director from Public Financial Management, where he worked as a financial advisor in Cleveland.

Kozak will focus on the higher-education and local government sectors, and will continue to work from Cleveland.

Sam Adams, senior associate, comes to PNC from the boutique investment firm Lancaster Pollard. Adams will be based in Columbus, and also call on issuers in Kentucky and Indiana.

Dan Rohr, from the Columbus office, retired on May 30, 2014.

The firm, a member of the PNC Finanicial Services Group, Inc., has made several hires nationally in the past 12 months, according to executive vice president and managing director of public finance Robert Dailey.

"The strategy we're pursuing is to strengthen our public finance business generally throughout the PNC footprint," Dailey said in an interview. "We have hired a number of people over the last year to build that presence out and we will continue to grow."

The firm is going to start a public finance transportation business as well, said Dailey, who came to PNC two years ago from JPMorgan. "Ohio is a real central place for PNC, one of our core business areas, and we want a strong team there," Dailey said. PNC first opened its Ohio public finance business in 2007. The firm will senior manage two deals, a $100 million financial for the Ohio Department of Transportation and $125 million for the Franklin County Convention Facilities Authority.

PNC hired William Hayden from JPMorgan in April. The firm also hired Warren "Bo" Daniels Jr, David Fischer and Matthew Roggenburg in February to open new offices in the Southeast and New York.

PNC has 25 public finance offices nationally, including two in Ohio.

The bank was credited as senior manager on $2.03 billion of par volume in 2013 by Thomson Reuters. In Pennsylvania, where the bank is headquartered, PNC was the third-ranking senior manager for $951.3 million of bonds by par volume.
