CDFA Launches South Carolina Roundtable

BRADENTON, Fla. - The Council of Development Finance Agencies is launching another "roundtable" program in the Southeast.

The CDFA South Carolina Financing Roundtable is being done in partnership with the South Carolina Jobs-Economic Development Authority, and a one-day conference is planned for Nov. 6, the CDFA said.

"CDFA is very proud to announce the launch of this new state roundtable for the development finance industry in South Carolina," said CDFA president Toby Rittner. "Launching this Roundtable is a milestone achievement for both CDFA and the leadership in the state."

The roundtable will develop a sustainable economic development finance industry in South Carolina through education, resource development, research and networking, he said.

Harry Huntley, executive director of the South Carolina Jobs-Economic Development Authority, said the roundtable will build on the authority's success of holding annual Bond Summits in 2012 and 2013.

"The roundtable will attract additional economic development finance professionals whose collaborative efforts and skills will blend and contribute to the continued prosperity, economic expansion and jobs growth of South Carolina businesses," Huntley said.

The one-day conference, in Charleston Nov. 6, is titled "Unlocking Development Finance in the Palmetto State."

The conference will feature economic development finance experts and leaders from around the state discussing development finance tools, resources and approaches, and how these methods can move the state's economy forward.

Huntley, a director on CDFA's board, said the South Carolina Jobs-Economic Development Authority will hold its 2014 Bond Summit concurrently with the Nov. 6 conference, which will include finance officials from the authority's transactions such as financial advisors, bond counsel, underwriters, and trustees.

The roundtable will also offer webcasts, online resources and will a dedicated state finance newsletter.

Earlier this year, CDFA held its first roundtable conference in Florida.

CDFA is also taking nominations for its annual Excellence in Development Finance Awards through September 12, 2014. Awards will be given in nine categories.
