Brown Names New CalHFA Executive Director

LOS ANGELES — California Gov. Jerry Brown appointed Tia Boatman-Patterson, a Democrat, as executive director of the California Housing Finance Authority.

Boatman-Patterson, 47, of Sacramento, has been general counsel at the Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency since 2009.

Prior to that, she worked as special assistant to California State Assembly Speaker Karen Bass from 2008 to 2009 and to California State Assembly Speaker Fabian Núñez from 2005 to 2008.

Before entering public service, she worked as a senior associate at Best Best and Krieger LLP from 2003 to 2004. She also worked as agency counsel at the Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency; as chief consultant for the California State Assembly Committee on Housing and Community Development; and as a law clerk at Greve Clifford Wengel and Paras from 1992 to 1995.

She earned a law degree from the University of Pacific, McGeorge School of Law.

The appointment was announced June 27. The position, which requires Senate confirmation, pays $174,996 annually.
