Wasmer, Schroeder & Co. is opening an office in New York City next month, the investment advisor said Wednesday. Matthew J. Kuss has been named as a Managing Director on the firm's relationship management team and he will work out of the new office starting in October.

Separately, the firm said Nicolas A. Rocha has joined WSC as an Associate Director of Business Development and will work with Ralph "Chip" Norton in the firm's Philadelphia-area office.

"Both Matt and Nic bring relevant experience to the firm," WSC's Chief Executive Officer Martin M. Wasmer said in a press release. "Matt with more than 17 years in fixed income asset management ranging from portfolio analysis and construction to client relationship management. Nic brings expertise in institutional consulting, research, portfolio analysis and combines it with his knowledge of technology."

Kuss will be responsible for strengthening WSC's business in the Northeast and Midwest and will be a member of the firm's investment committee. He has 17 years of asset management experience and prior to joining WSC he worked at Samson Capital Advisors in New York City and at Deutsche Asset Management before that.

Rocha will help the company continue to grow and will focus on client service. Previously, he worked at Fortigent, a division of LPL Financial, where he was an associate wealth consultant and a member of the research team. He has also worked as an institutional consulting analyst at Graystone Consulting, formerly Citi Institutional Consulting.

"As WSC continues to build a strong technology base to our credit research and portfolio management team, it affords us the opportunity to broaden our client relationship reach," said WSC President Michael J. Schroeder.

WSC is an independent and employee-owned investment advisor, specializing in fixed-income separate account portfolio management for high net worth individuals, wealth management groups and institutions. The firm has $5.32 billion in assets under management and is headquartered in Naples, Fla., where the tax-exempt portfolio management team is located. The firm also has offices in Cleveland, Ohio, Portland, Ore., and Exton, Pa.
