DALLAS – Indianapolis-based Umbaugh has named a veteran Ohio public finance professional as its director in that state.

Former PNC Capital Markets LLC managing director and supervisory principal Mark Miller will take on the newly created role of Ohio director, the municipal advisory firm recently announced.

"Umbaugh chose Mark for his years of experience assisting major municipal clients to resolve difficult financial issues effectively. He brings a common vision, dedication to excellence, collaboration and demonstrated leadership which are our core values," said Todd Samuelson, Umbaugh's executive partner.

Miller is a 25-year veteran of the public finance field advising state treasurers, state agencies, counties, cities, elementary and higher education, convention centers, and airports.

Miller's hiring is aimed at building the firm's growing Ohio presence. Umbaugh merged with two Ohio-based advisory firms last year.

In September, Jim Hargrove came aboard at Umbaugh following a merger with Columbus-based financial advisory firm Prism Municipal Advisors LLC. In May 2015, Brian Cooper joined Umbaugh in Columbus following a merger with ACI Advisors. Megan Kilgore, former assistant auditor and debt manager in Columbus, joined the Umbaugh team in October 2015.

Umbaugh has 90 employees in four Midwest offices in Indianapolis, Mishawaka, Ind., Columbus and Lansing, Mich. Ohio clients include the city of Grandview Heights, Akron and the Development Finance Authority of Summit County.

The firm advises cities, towns, townships, counties, agencies, utilities, schools, libraries, hospitals and airports regarding financing, long-range planning, tax and utility rates, budgets, debt management, revenue forecasts, economic development and financial management.

Umbaugh ranked sixth in the Midwest among financial advisors last year, according to Thomson Reuters.
