CHICAGO – Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP is hosting a reception Thursday to honor the memory of bond lawyer and public finance banker George Pitt, who died in March.

The Salute to George Pitt Committee asks that those interested in attending RSVP.

The reception is set for Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a program beginning promptly at 5:30 p.m. at Katten Muchin's offices on the 19th floor at 525 West Monroe in downtown Chicago.

In addition to honoring Pitt's pioneering contributions to the public finance field and his reputation as a mentor to a generation of Chicago bond lawyers, an endowment opportunity with the Share Foundation will be discussed as a memorial to Pitt.

Pitt followed his groundbreaking career as a bond attorney with a second act as an investment banker before returning to public finance law at the end of his career. He retired in 2009.

Pitt died in March at the age of 77 after suffering a long illness. He graduated from law school in 1963 and joined Chapman and Cutler LLP. Five years later he launched his own firm with two colleagues. The firm, Borge & Pitt, merged with what's now Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP in 1987. He remained at Katten for more than a decade before making the leap to investment banking.
