R. Seelaus & Co. has hired a new syndicate and debt capital markets team to build its primary market business.

The New Jersey based broker dealer and women's business enterprise on March 24 said Leslie Graves and Jim Brucia would co-head the new team.

"There is an enormous opportunity for a firm like Seelaus to add value to issuers looking to meet diversity goals in the primary market" said Annie Seelaus Mitnick, the chief executive officer. "We have been a strong liquidity provider in the secondary market for over 30 years and can bring that distribution and market expertise to any issuer looking to access the capital markets. As a firm committed to providing opportunities for women in finance, we are particularly encouraged by the increased focus on diversity firm inclusion in this space."

Brucia and Graves bring to Seelaus a wealth of experience covering the largest and most frequent borrowers in the global marketplace, according to the press release. Graves joins the firm after five years at Mischler Financial Group Inc., building its bank and finance origination business as a managing director at the veteran owned firm. Before that, Graves worked at Credit Suisse for 26 years as a floating rate note trader and later as a fixed income syndicate professional focused on frequent issuers including agencies, domestic and Yankee banks, and corporate MTN issuers.

Brucia joins with over 30 years of experience in the corporate bond market, most recently as head of U.S. debt capital markets and syndicate at BBVA. Previously, Brucia was co-head of debt finance for the Americas at HSBC and served in a variety of trading and syndicate roles at JPMorgan and its predecessor organizations.
