Public finance and tax lawyer James McGettrick has joined Norton Rose Fulbright as an of counsel in the firm's Washington, D.C. office, the company announced on Wednesday.
During his career, he has developed and carried out financings for many public projects, including preparing legislation, creating special tax entities, negotiating all aspects of projects and accompanying plans of finance, and defending projects and financial plans in court.
At Norton Rose Fulbright, McGettrick will focus on mass transportation finance, TIFIA loans, special taxing districts, community development authorities, special assessment and tax increment financing, bond validation, appellate and complex property tax matters.
He is currently admitted to practice law in Virginia and the District of Columbia.
McGettrick has authored many articles and he writes the chapter on taxation in the annual Handbook of Virginia Local Government Law. He also has given numerous presentations on public finance and taxation.
He received his JD from American University, his LLM with distinction from Georgetown University and his BSIE from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
