Obituary: James “J.R.” Robertson 1927-2014

Jim "J.R." Robertson, whose career in municipal finance spanned more than four decades, died at home in Estes Park, Colo., on Aug. 31. He was 87 years old.

James Martin Robertson and his twin brother Edward Guy Robertson were born May 6, 1927 in Charlotte, Mich., to Thelma (Mitchell) and Martin Robertson. Jim graduated from Great Neck High School in New York. He attended Colorado State College (now University of Northern Colorado) where he played football and received a B.A. in Biological Science.

After attending New York University Graduate School of Business, Jim entered the financial world as a trader with Eldredge & Co. in 1949. Jim and his family lived in the New York area and he continued to work in Municipal Finance, holding various positions including vice president at Shearson, Hammill, & Co., and founding partner at Frank Henjes & Co.

Mr. Robertson is predeceased by his sister Carol McTeague (late wife of Hugh McTeague of Glen Haven) his brother Ed Robertson, and his wife Marjorie. He survived by his sons Jim Robertson (Susan, Chicago, IL) Michael Robertson (Lael, St. Paul, MN), and Craig Robertson (Zoe, Mt. Kisco, NY); his daughters Jeanne (Richard Vlerebome, Lady Lake, FL), Janet (Ted Armentrout, Charlottesville, VA), and Jane (Tom Zielenski, New Vernon, NJ); two nieces, thirteen grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

A Memorial service will be held at the Presbyterian Community Church of the Rockies, 1700 Brodie Ave, Estes Park, CO 80517, Saturday, Oct. 25, at 3:00.
