NAST Names John Provenzano as New Executive Director

WASHINGTON— John Provenzano, former government relations director for Delta Air Lines, has been named the first Washington, D.C.-based executive director for The National Association of State Treasurers.

He will officially begin his duties on Oct. 20, according to a release by NAST. He replaces Chris Hunter, who will remain with NAST in another position.

"I am thrilled to be joining the National Association of State Treasurers and look forward to working with the state treasures, NAST's staff and corporate affiliates to increase our visibility and influence - both in Washington and around the country," said Provenzano.

Provenzano was chosen through a nationwide search by NAST's national executive committee to lead the association of state finance officials. NAST membership includes all state treasurers or state finance officials with comparable responsibilities in the U.S., as well as many private sector members represented through its corporate affiliate program.

"John comes highly recommended for his work ethic, ability to dive in and understand new issues, and capacity to build consensus among groups," said Richard Ellis, NAST's 2014 president and Utah's state treasurer. Ellis added that, with Provenzano's leadership, "NAST will achieve its vision of promoting and strengthening policies, education and legislation that help members pursue sound financial practices and programs."

Provenzano has worked more than 15 years in relationship management, including representing corporate and trade association interests, forging bipartisan relationships with Congress, and leading government affairs initiatives and fundraising strategies. His former experience includes executive positions at Delta Air Lines, Rockwell Collins, and General Aviation Manufacturers Association.
