James 'Ronnie' Scott, Former J.C. Bradford Muni Head, Dies at 74

James Ronald "Ronnie" Scott, who was with J.C. Bradford for 33 years and was head of the municipal bond department for 30 years, passed away on Sept. 19, 2015. He was 74.

Mr. Scott was born on Jan. 27, 1941 in Nashville, Tenn., and graduated from Vanderbilt University and was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. He is survived by his wife, Elaina Hunt Scott, oldest brother Wallace Cooper Scott III, and sister Joann Scott Phillips, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

After Bradford was sold to Paine Webber in 2001, Scott founded and managed JRS Investments, Inc., a financial advisory firm.

"Bradford, under his helm, pioneered the use of industrial revenue bonds in the South which were instrumental in bringing badly needed jobs to the region. He was a true gentleman, fiercely competitive," said E.J. Boyson, vice president, financial advisor, Morgan Stanley Wealth Management. Boyson works out of the Nashville Office.

Mr. Scott was a member of Corner Partnership, LLC. He was a board member of the Nashville Ballet, Belmont Mansion and the Downtown Partnership. Scott also grew up as a member of West End Church of Christ and served in the Navy Reserves.

Ronnie belonged to the Golf Club of Tennessee and was a member of Richland Country Club, Old Hickory Country Club, Orange Tree in Orlando, Fla., and the K Club Golf Resort in Ireland. He was passionate about the game of golf, Vanderbilt baseball, the St. Louis Cardinals and the Nashville Ballet.

To celebrate his life, Rev. Clifford Dobbs will conduct the service at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22 at the Mount Olivet Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from noon until time of service. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Funeral Cemetery. Pallbearers are Mike Ballard, Mark Bloom, James Cook, Glenn "Roxy" Gwynn, Doug Hall, Ray Harness, Larry Papel and Mark Russell.
