HJ Sims expanded its Puerto Rico advisory team by adding four new experts in its office in Guaynabo.

Roberto Feria Cestero has been hired as senior vice president in the private client wealth management group, Sims said in a press release Monday. Carlos Alvarado has joined as vice president of investments, Maria "Magie" Mena has been named senior client service associate, and Adrian Fernandez has become an investment advisor.

Cestero was formerly vice president of investments at Santander Securities and has worked as an assistant vice president at Popular Securities and a financial advisor at PaineWebber. He has 17 years of experience.

"I enjoy developing strong, lasting relationship with my clients, and I strive for the fulfillment of my clients' objectives by implementing comprehensive strategies," Cestero said in the press release. "Trust, honesty and transparency are instrumental to a successful relationship."

Alvarado  has 31 years of experience and specializes in fixed income, stocks and options. Formerly, he worked at Merrill Lynch and Santander Securities. He holds his Series 7, 63, 65, 66, Life Insurance and Annuities, and Disability and Health Care licenses.

"I enjoy analyzing news, events and research reports to keep my clients informed of developments that might affect their portfolios," he said. "My clients' needs are of utmost importance to me."

Mena has worked at PaineWebber, UBS and Santander. She has 20 years of experience and has worked with her clients to meet their long-term needs.

"I place an emphasis on quality and diversification," she said. "When it comes to financial matters, professional advice cannot be overestimated."

After spending the last nine years in the United States, Fernandez came home to Puerto Rico. With specialties in financial planning and tax credits, he said he finds it gratifying to uncover opportunities for his clients during the current economic situation.

"I am passionate about the financial markets and the associated benefits for my clients," he said. "Dynamic markets and ever-changing geopolitical conditions make this an entrepreneurial environment, where one must adapt in order to be successful."
