Preliminary Feb. U. of Mich. Index at 90.7 vs. 92.0 in Jan.

The University of Michigan's preliminary February consumer sentiment index reading was 90.7, compared to the final January 92.0, and the preliminary January 93.3, according to market sources.

The expectations index was 81.0, compared to the final January 82.7, and the preliminary January 85.7.

The current conditions index was 105.8, compared to the final January 106.4, and the preliminary January 105.1.

Economists polled by Thomson Reuters had predicted a 92.0 reading for the main index, 82.0 for expectations and 105.0 for current conditions.

The five-year inflation expectation index was 2.4%, compared to 2.7% in January, while the one-year inflation expectation index was 2.5%, compared to 2.5% in January.

The University of Michigan index is not released to the press, but only to paying subscribers.
