Nov. ISM-NY Current Business Index Grows to 52.5

"New York City business activity showed confidence and optimism after an uncertain summer and fall," as the current business conditions index increased to 52.5 in November from 49.2 in October, the Institute for Supply Management-New York's Report on Business index, released Friday, indicated.

A reading above 50.0 indicates expansion. The employment index is published on a seasonally adjusted basis.

The expansion followed three months of contractionary readings for the index.

The report's six-month outlook index rose to 60.8 in November from 56.9 in October. The NY-BCI, a cumulative diffusion index, gained to 720.5 from 719.3.

The prices paid composite index soared to 69.2 from 55.6, the quantity of purchases composite index jumped to 56.0 from 44.3, employment rose to 52.3 from 50.6, the current month's revenues index climbed to 52.1 from 51.4, and the expected level of revenues grew to 66.7 from 60.3.
