Lockhart: Liftoff in Last Half of 2015 Appropriate

The final half of 2015 is the appropriate time for a rate liftoff, according to Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta President Dennis Lockhart, who added that he'd like inflation closer to the Fed's 2% target before raising rates.

As did Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago President Charles Evans earlier Friday, Lockhart told Bloomberg TV he could "tolerate" inflation above 2%.

If short-term rates are controlled, Lockhart said, the Fed's balance sheet is not a concern.
