July Bldg Permits Revised Up to 15.5% Drop to 1.130M Unit Rate

WASHINGTON — The number of U.S. building permits issued in July was revised up to a decrease of 15.5% to a 1.130 million unit annual rate, the Commerce Department's Bureau of the Census said Wednesday.

Permits issued were originally reported down 16.3% to a 1.119 million unit rate.

The Census Bureau revises the latest building permits data on the 18th working day of the month, three to seven days after the release of the preliminary estimate in the month housing starts and building permits report.

Permits for single-family homes were revised higher to a decline of 1.7% at a 680,000 unit rate (previously down 1.9% at a 679,000 unit rate). Permits for multi-unit buildings were revised up to a decline of 30.2% at a 450,000 unit rate (previously down 31.8% at a 440,000 unit rate.)
