The University of Michigan's final July consumer sentiment index reading was 90.0, compared to the preliminary July 89.5, and the final June 93.5, according to market sources.
The expectations index was 77.8, compared to the preliminary July 77.1, and the final June 82.4.
The current conditions index was 109.0, compared to the preliminary July 108.7, and the final June 110.8.
Economists polled by Thomson Reuters had predicted a 90.5 reading for the main index, 79.5 for expectations and 109.0 for current conditions.
The five-year inflation expectation index was 2.6%, compared to 2.6% in June, while the one-year inflation expectation index was 2.7%, compared to 2.6% in June.
The University of Michigan index is not released to the press, but only to paying subscribers.
