Final Aug. U. of Mich. Index at 91.9 vs. 93.1 in July

The University of Michigan's final August consumer sentiment index reading was 91.9, compared to the preliminary August 92.9, and the final July 93.1, according to market sources.

The expectations index was 83.4, compared to the preliminary August 83.8, and the final July 84.1.

The current conditions index was 105.1, compared to the preliminary August 107.1, and the final July 107.2.

Economists polled by Thomson Reuters had predicted a 93.0 reading for the main index.

The five-year inflation expectation index was 2.8%, compared to 2.8% in July, while the one-year inflation expectation index was 2.7%, compared to 2.8% in July.

The University of Michigan index is not released to the press, but only to paying subscribers.
