Three rate hikes by the Federal Reserve this year is "entirely possible," Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago President Charles Evans said in a televised interview Monday.

"Raising rates is a fine move," Evans said in an interview on Fox Business News. While three rate increases are "entirely reasonable" this year "if the growth outlook solidifies."

"It could be three, it could be two, it could be four," Evans said.

He sees gross domestic product rising 2.25% this year.
