Bond Buyer Indexes Strengthen

The weekly average yield to maturity of The Bond Buyer Municipal Bond Index, which is based on 40 long-term bond prices, fell seven basis points to 4.27% in the latest week from 4.34% in the previous week.

The Bond Buyer's 20-Bond GO Index of 20-year general obligation yields was 11 points lower to 3.91% from 4.02% in the prior week. It is at its lowest level since Feb. 9, when it was at 3.88%.

The 11-Bond GO Index of higher-grade 20-year GO yields decreased 11 basis points to 3.42% from 3.53% in the previous week. It is at its lowest level since it was at 3.38% seven weeks ago.

The Bond Buyer's Revenue Bond Index dropped nine basis points to 4.08% from 4.17% last week. It is at its lowest level since Feb. 23 when it was at 4.08%.

The yield on the U.S. Treasury's 10-year note fell 12 basis points to 2.41% from 2.53%, while the yield on the Treasury's 30-year bond decreased 11 basis points to 3.03% from 3.14% in the prior week.
