Construction spending increased 2.2% in April, the Commerce Department said Monday, and is 4.8% above the April 2014 level.
In March, construction spending rose 0.5%, first reported as a 0.6% decrease.
Spending on private construction grew 1.8% in the month, while public construction surged 3.3%.
Residential construction gained 0.6%.
Economists polled by Thomson Reuters predicted a 0.8% increase in construction spending.
