ADP: Private Sector Jobs Up 156,000 in April

Private-sector employment increased by 156,000 in April, on a seasonally adjusted basis, ADP reported Wednesday.

In March, ADP says 194,000 jobs were added, compared to its initial estimate of 200,000 new jobs.

Economists surveyed by IFR Markets estimated a 195,000 ADP job gain projection for March.

“The job market appears to have stumbled in April. Job growth noticeably slowed, with some weakness across most sectors,” Mark Zandi, chief economist of Moody’s Analytics, said in a release. “One month does not make a trend, but this bears close watching as the financial market turmoil earlier in the year may have done some damage to business hiring.”
