Bear Stearns Hires Franklin From Goldman

Wendy Franklin, senior transportation banker at Goldman, Sachs & Co., has left the firmto join Bear, Stearns & Co. as a managing director in its public finance group.

Franklin, a municipal market veteran, will start in her new position on Sept. 1. Shewill work with senior managing directors Michael Lexton and David Rush in thetransportation group.

Franklin has experience in both air and surface transportation, sectors on which bothRush and Lexton focus.

Bob Foran, co-head of the public finance group at Bear Stearns, said in an interviewyesterday that "with the addition of Wendy Franklin, we believe that we'll have one ofthe strongest teams in the transportation sector."

Franklin was the head of transportation at Merrill Lynch & Co. before that firmsignificantly reduced its public finance group in early 2001. At that point, Franklinmoved to Goldman and Lexton, who also worked at Merrill, moved to Bear Stearns . Bothjoined Merrill in 1999 after working at Lehman Brothers.
