Leading Economic Indicators Rose 0.8% in March

The composite index of Leading Economic Indicators was up 0.8% in March following a 0.5% increase in February, the Conference Board reported Monday.

The coincident index gained 0.2% in March after an unrevised 0.4% rise in February, while the lagging index rose 0.6% after an unrevised 0.3% gain in February.

The LEI stands at 100.9, the coincident index is at 108.3 and the lagging index is at 123.0 The LEI has a baseline of 100, which reflects the level in 2004.

Economists polled by Thomson Reuters predicted LEI would grow 0.7% in the month.
