Connecticut Launches Data Portal

Gov. Dannel Malloy and state Comptroller Kevin Lembo launched Data.ct.gov, Connecticut's open portal that they say gives the public "unprecedented" amounts of government data.

Malloy made the announcement at SeeClickFix, a New Haven company that has created a communications platform for citizens to report non-emergency problems, and for governments to track, manage, and reply.

Created as a result of an executive order, the Connecticut Open Data website will enable all state government agencies to share information with the public.

The website will also include access to economic development data that was made public under a separate order issued in December, requiring the state Department of Economic and Community Development to create a searchable electronic database containing information regarding certain economic assistance and tax credits that used for recruitment or retention of business.
