April ISM-NY Current Business Index Rises to 58.3

New York City business activity expanded in April, as the current business conditions index increased to 58.3 from 51.2 in March, the Institute for Supply Management-New York's Report on Business index, released Thursday, indicated.

A reading above 50.0 indicates expansion. The employment index is published on a seasonally adjusted basis.

The report's six-month outlook index dipped to 64.0 from 65.2. The NY-BCI increased to 577.4 from 573.3.

The prices paid composite index fell to 51.6 from 64.1, the quantity of purchases composite index gained to 59.4 from 55.0, employment slid to 53.3 from 57.3, the current month's revenues index dropped to 51.7 from 57.4, and the expected level of revenues increased to 62.9 from 50.0.
