PNC Adds Three to Public Finance Team in Pennsylvania and Florida

After bulking up its Chicago office last month, PNC Capital Markets has announced that it is continuing to expand its public finance teams in Pennsylvania and Florida.

The underwriting firm said Thursday that it has hired public finance veterans Nicholas Falgione as managing director based in Pittsburgh and John Martinez as director based in Orlando, Fla.

PNC also announced the appointment of Matt Tevis, who was co-head of PNC's financial institutions group, to managing director in its public finance capital markets team. Tevis will be based in Philadelphia.

"Continuing to build out our public finance team with experienced talent from inside and outside of PNC ensures that we will be better positioned to serve both existing customers and those we seek to build new relationships with in Pennsylvania, Florida and throughout the PNC footprint," said Robert Dailey, managing director and head of the public finance business at PNC.

Falgione comes to PNC with 16 years of public finance experience, most recently as managing director of public finance at Boenning & Scattergood, Inc., and previously with JPMorgan Securities. At PNC he will lead development of financial structures for government entities in Western Pennsylvania and help to build the firm's coverage of major governmental issuers in its markets.

Falgione earned his bachelor's degree in economics and microbiology and his business degree at the University of Pittsburgh.

With seven years of legal, public service, and public finance experience, Martinez will lead the firm's public finance capital markets efforts throughout Florida. He joins PNC from the municipal trading, investment banking, and underwriting firm, Benchmark Securities, where he was managing director and co-founder. Martinez earned a bachelor's degree at Wake Forest University and a law degree at Florida State University College of Law.

In his new role, Tevis, will be responsible for delivering all of the firm's capital markets products and services to public finance banking clients with an emphasis on the Southeast markets. He has been with PNC for over 20 years and has helped build the company's municipal derivatives capabilities while in a capital markets role.

Tevis earned a bachelor's degree in finance from Miami University.

Thursday's announcement follows the addition of public finance banker Elizabeth Gallagher Coolidge and managing director Allison Pink in Chicago.

PNC Capital markets is a provider of municipal debt-based structures and products for government entities, higher education, housing and redevelopment, and health care clients.

Last year, PNC finished in 22nd place among bookrunners on debt in the Midwest region, and 3d place as a co-manager, according to Thomson Reuters data.
