LOS ANGELES -- Public finance veteran Gary Hall will join Siebert Brandford Shank & Co., L.L.C.  as senior managing director and national head of public finance banking, the firm announced.

Starting on June 1, Hall will work from the firm’s West Coast headquarters in Oakland, Calif. The firm also maintains headquarters in New York.

Hall joins the firm from JPMorgan, where he served as an executive director in the public finance investment banking group. He was the lead banker for $15 billion in par amount of senior-managed municipal issues.

“This significant hire for the firm continues the expansive growth SBS experienced during the financial crisis when we hired talented professionals from a variety of Wall Street firms,” said Suzanne Shank, president and chief executive officer of Siebert Brandford Shank. “Gary’s energy and tenacity combined with our already strong team of bankers will ensure the continued growth of the firm.”

Hall has managed transactions for states including California, Michigan, and Ohio, as well as for the cities of Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. He has also worked on multiple deals for school districts, airports, and various other public projects throughout the country.

Prior to his career in public finance, Hall worked in the mergers and acquisitions group at Banc One Capital Markets, Inc., and practiced law in the Corporate Finance Group of Gardner, Carton & Douglas — now known as Drinker Biddle & Reath. He has also worked in the Mayor’s Office of Budget and Management for Chicago.

Hall received a bachelor’s degree in business administration in finance from Howard University and a law degree from Notre Dame.

Siebert Brandford Shank, which has 21 locations nationwide, served as a managing underwriter on municipal bond transactions exceeding $67 billion in aggregate par amount in 2012. The firm served as senior manager on 36 transactions, and co-senior manager on 32 transactions.
