The Detroit Medical Center has dropped plans to build a $50 million outpatient facility in the Detroit suburb of Royal Oak.
The medical center, Detroit’s largest safety-net hospital, plans instead to look for a location further north in Oakland county, a report said.
The provider unveiled plans a year ago to build a three-story facility with doctors’ offices and an emergency department on the site. But a recent real-estate assessment valued the land at 50% higher than what DMC wanted to pay for it, a medical center official told local reporters.
