January Factory Orders Fall 2.0%; Ex-Transportation Up 1.3%

U.S. factory orders fell 2.0% in January, the Commerce Department reported Wednesday.

Orders excluding transportation rose 1.3%.

Economists expected factory orders would slip 2.2% for the month, according to the median estimate from Thomson Reuters.

Factory orders in December were revised to a rise of 1.3% from the 1.8% jump reported last month. December orders excluding transportation were revised to a 0.2% decrease from the previously reported 0.2% rise.

Shipments, fell 0.2%.
