The Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board has moved its library of electronic disclosures of dealers' political contributions to the EMMA system.
The disclosures had been available to the public through a repository hosted by the MSRB's website since the mid-1990s, the MSRB said in a release issued Monday.
Users of the EMMA system can now view dealers' political contributions, including those to made issuer officials, state and local political parties and bond ballot campaigns, by clicking the "Market Activity" tab at the top of the EMMA site, and then by clicking the "Political Contributions" tab.
A search box allows users to find disclosures by dealer name.
The change allows users to view the contributions as they explore other data available on EMMA, such as trade prices, official statements and market statistics, according to the release.
Disclosures of political contributions help investors and others assess potential conflicts of interest between dealers and issuers, said the board.
The new display is part of the MSRB's effort to update the EMMA system and employ more advanced technological tools that will allow the board to better maintain its library of disclosures.
