Initial Jobless Claims Off 2,000 to 339,000 in Week Ended Nov. 9

Initial jobless claims dropped 2,000 to 339,000 in the week ended November 9, the Labor Department said Thursday.

Claims for the week ended November 2 were revised up to 341,000 from the initially reported 336,000.

Continuing jobless claims were 2.874 million in the week ended November 2, unchanged from the upwardly revised 2.874 million the week before, first reported as 2.868 million.

Economists polled by Thomson Reuters expected 330,000 initial and 2.870 million continuing claims.

The four-week average of initial claims slid 575 in the week ended November 9 to 344,000.
