NFMA Hires Oliver as Media, Industry Liaison

WASHINGTON — The National Federation of Municipal Analysts has hired William Oliver, a former NFMA chairman with 30 years of experience in the municipal bond field, in a consulting position as industry and media liaison, the group announced Wednesday in a release.

Oliver, who is based in Brooklyn, N.Y., will help lead the group’s communication efforts and work with other industry groups on joint projects, said Jeffrey Burger, NFMA’s chair of the board of governors.

“I am so appreciative to have Bill on board. My capacity, because of my day job, is more limited, but Bill’s got that capacity, he’s got that passion and he’s got the industry clout,” said Burger.

Oliver has been director of municipal research at Alliance Capital Management, part of AllianceBernstein Corp., and Prudential Capital Management, where he covered a range of municipal credit sectors, as well as global markets, analyzing sub-sovereign and infrastructure projects and public-private partnerships.

He was chair of NFMA in 1995 and has chaired the group’s disclosure committee. Oliver has been named NFMA’s Analyst of the Year and received awards for meritorious service and career achievement.

Oliver has a bachelor’s degree in political science from George Washington University and a master’s degree in city planning and public administration from Ohio State University.
