City Securities Steps Outside Indiana With Four New Hires

CHICAGO — Indianapolis-based City Securities Corp. is expanding its footprint outside the Hoosier State for the first time by hiring four new professionals who will operate a new municipal housing division.

The firm, one of the top in Indiana, is opening new offices in Denver, Boston, and St. Petersburg, Fla. It's the first major step outside the state in its almost 90 years, the firm said. The team will specialize in the coverage of single- and multi-family housing bond issuers.

The housing group will be led by Marc Krasner, who joins City as a senior vice president, director of housing from George K. Baum & Company. Matt Engler, senior vice president, comes to the firm from Meridian Investments.

Jake Sorenson, senior vice president, underwriting, and Julian Johnson, senior vice president, trading will staff the Florida office. Both come from Raymond James/Morgan Keegan.

"City Securities has financed more projects for Indiana issuers than any other firm," CEO Mike Bosway said in a statement. "It's our goal to take that history of success outside the borders of Indiana. Hiring these individuals and creating a new division contributes to our bench strength, connections, and opportunities for our public and corporate finance departments."

The firm in summer of 2012 hired former Raymond James/Morgan Keegan banker and group manager Linda Matkowski to manage its public finance banking team. "Marc's expertise in single-family, combined with Matt's expertise in multi-family and specialized tax enhanced financing structures, gives us the perfect combination to provide unique solutions in the housing sector," Matkowski, executive vice president of fixed income capital markets, said in a statement.

City Securities has about 200 employees and seven branches in Indiana. It ranked 39 of 197 underwriters for 2012.
