Kyle, Texas Ponders Road Bonds

Voters in Kyle, Texas are expected to decide in May on up to $35.3 million of city general obligation bonds to finance reconstruction of five roads.

The council is considering options for a $35.3 million road package and a $25.1 million plan.

City officials in the town near San Antonio had hoped to put a road bond request on the November 2012 ballot but the council could not agree on the ballot language before the deadline.

Approval of the road bonds will increase the property tax by approximately $2 per $1,000 of assessed valuation.

Voters in Hay County approved $207 million of road bonds for a countywide transportation plan in 2008.
