Gov. Brown Appoints Chief Deputy Director for Budget

LOS ANGELES -- California Gov. Jerry Brown announced Wednesday that he has appointed Keely Bosler as chief deputy director for budget at the Department of Finance.

Bosler, 38, of Sacramento, served as staff director for the California State Senate Budget and Fiscal Review Committee since 2010. Prior to that, she was associate director of fiscal services at the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation budget management branch.

Bosler has also served as a consultant for the California State Senate Budget and Fiscal Review Committee, and as a fiscal and policy analyst at the California Legislative Analyst’s Office.

She earned a master’s degree in applied economics from Cornell University.

Bosler moves up to fill the position vacated by Michael Cohen, who was promoted to director of the Department of Finance Sept. 16 following the departure of the previous director, Ana Matosantos.

The position of chief deputy director does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $161,916.

Bosler is registered without a party affiliation.
