July Personal Income Up 0.1%; Spending Gains 0.1%

WASHINGTON — Personal income rose $14.1 billion or 0.1% in July following a unrevised 0.3% increase in June, the Commerce Department reported Friday.

The July personal income figure was slightly weaker than the median 0.2% increase projected by economists polled by Thomson Reuters.

July personal spending increased $16.3 billion or 0.1%, after rising a revised 0.6% the previous month. June's spending figure was originally reported as a 0.5% increase.

Disposable personal income rose $21.7 billion, or 0.2% in July, following a 0.2% increase in June. Real disposable income, which is adjusted to remove price changes, rose 0.1% after decreasing 0.2% the previous month.

The core personal consumption expenditures, which excludes food and energy, rose 0.1% in July after increasing 0.2% in June.
