Illinois Hospitals Get State Grants

Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn has announced more than $70 million in capital grant funding for 115 hospitals across the state.

A total of $47 million is earmarked for hospital in the Chicago and Cook County.

"These investments create hundreds of good construction jobs while helping these hospitals provide better service to the thousands of patients they serve every single day," Quinn said in a statement.

The grants were doled out under the state's Hospital Capital Investment Program.

"With these grants, more than 115 hospitals across the state will move forward with their critical work to transform the state's health care delivery system — with new equipment and technologies, such as electronic health records — to increase IT capacity, foster greater connectivity and improve outcomes," said Illinois Hospital Association president Maryjane Wurth.
