Standard & Poor's Ratings Services said it raised to A from A-minus its issuer credit rating on Laurens County School District No. 55, S.C., based on the district's improved financial performance, which has led to strong general fund reserves.
The long-term rating was raised to A-minus from BBB-plus on the district's installment purchase revenue bonds. At the same time, S&P affirmed the AA enhanced program rating on the district's general obligation bonds. The outlook is stable.
"The upgrade reflects our opinion on the district's considerably improved financial performance," said Standard & Poor's credit analyst Timothy Barrett. "The district's strong financial position, along with manageable debt levels, provides stability to the ratings."
