Final July U. of Mich. Index at 85.1 vs. 84.1 in June

The University of Michigan's final July consumer sentiment index reading was 85.1, compared to the preliminary July 83.9, the final June 84.1 and the preliminary June 82.7, according to market sources.

The expectations index was 76.5, compared to the preliminary July 73.8, the final June 77.8, and the preliminary June 76.7.

The current conditions index was 98.6, compared to the preliminary July 99.7, the final June 93.8, and the preliminary June 92.1.

Economists polled by Thomson Reuters had predicted an 84.0 reading for the main index, 100.0 for current conditions and 74.0 for expectations.

The five-year inflation expectation index was 2.8%, compared to 2.9% in June, while the one-year inflation expectation index was 3.1%, compared to 3.0% in June.

The University of Michigan index is not released to the press, but only to paying subscribers.
