Flynn serves as chairman and trustee of Spartanburg County School District Seven, and is a member of the advisory board of the Palmetto Bank, and a 30-year member of the Spartanburg Rotary Club.

He is also a member of the South Carolina Bar's "Memory Hold the Door" committee, which honors deceased lawyers and judges who provided distinguished service to the public and the Bar, according to the Bar's website.
